How can I give to Stockwell Parish or Friends of St Michael?

Stockwell Parish members contribute to the life and work of the church in many different ways. While the information below relates to financial giving, other pages on this site explain the variety of ways you can get involved and contribute in other ways to the Parish’s other ministries.  God continues to provide us with amazing opportunities as we play our part in the evangelisation of the nations, the revitalisation of the church and the transformation of society.

There are two main needs:

1.     Funding of spiritual activity

2.     Repair of St Michael’s and its church hall

Funding of Spiritual Activity

You will find the Parish Strategy on the Support page of this website, which sets out on the Faith & Worship section, the various things that need funding.  There is a real opportunity to build God’s people in Stockwell.  On a day to day basis, Parish income is just below what is needed annually to run the Parish and pay for diocesan support and resources.  The priority in terms of new activity is to fund hospitality for outreach, training for volunteers and social media activity.

Repair of St Michael’s and its church hall

St Michael’s is a Grade 2 listed church and the latest survey showed a number of problems that need sorting out fairly urgently so that the fabric does not deteriorate further and become even more expensive to fix.  The Parish is keen to make the church as useful as possible as a community asset and repair and redecoration is key to achieving that.  A copy of the latest survey or quinquennial can be viewed on the St Michael's page on this website.  The church hall is in not bad shape.  The heating and the roof have been repaired in 2017.  But the windows and door frames are rotting and need replacement.  In an ideal world, we would also be able to put in a shower and an additional toilet.  The former so that our homeless guests who we host in the first quarter of each year through the Robes project might be able to wash properly.  If you would like to give to the fabric of the buildings and want reassurance that your donation will only be spent on fabric and not on spiritual investment, please give through the Friends of St Michael.  For details as to how to do this, please see below.

Everything that happens here is only possible thanks to all of you who pray, serve and give to the work of the church and those of you who are separately active in the local community. Thank you so much. We could not do it without you.

Lots of love

Erica Wooff
